SPIKESSSIMMISSIMO
Watching the street style of today - we could not be more studded vs spiked than this. This Punk influence detail has taken over the fashion world, up to the point where I feel like saying - calm down a bit, wont ya?- But, nonetheless, chair? Why not? I am kinda loving the all silver chair and in the right atmosphere it could be a true focal point of attention and detail.
While we are at it - why not some hooks as well?
So if all this is 'hooking' you - you can get your studded pieces from Opinion Ciatti. They actually have many more things worth looking into.

SELETTI FOR MY HOME
It has not been that long since I have moved into my new apartment in the south of france, and maybe you dont know, but for an interior designer to do their own home - its like interior designers hell. It is so much easier to give good advise to clients rather than to live in your own choices. Either way - I am going for some what - i have been around the world - type of final look and these goodies above will nicely fit into the concept. Especially the city table mats - lets dine in NYC tonight? ;)

ANNE LEHMANN
How funky are these gem stone rugs by the designer Anne Lehmann for Normann Copenhagen. When I first saw just one of them, I though it was a pouf/coffee table, and I thought - how cool. Somebody should make poufs like these as well.

RON GILAD
I am not too big of a fan of too geometrical designs, but Ron Gilad has suprised me with this set of GRADO interior accessory pieces distributed by Molteni C. My favourite is the console, that I would even use in my own home. Again - Less is more!

MICHAEL ANASTASSIADES
During my last travels to various places around the world, these particular lamps cought my eye, but I could never come across to who is the designer behind this, until an article in a magazine. These beautiful handmade pieces are created by Michael Anastassiades. And not only he makes these gorgeous design pieces, but also has a beautiful surname that I have a hard time pronouncing. Either way, I am really considering using some of his products in a project of mine, as their less is more knocks me off my feet.

NIKE REGAL BASKETBALL COURT
Well there we go - just in case you are wondering how come am I writing about a basketball court, then I guess the moment has come to tell you that I am an ex basketball player with over 15 years of experience. (psst - I might be playing this season!) And not only am I passionate about basketball - NIKE has always been my all time favourite sports brand. I am sure that all my basketball peeps :), would appreciate the design of this court. The nicest suprise in the design is the mural drawing, that does look like a fancy wallpaper, but when you look into it - ta daaaa! Lovin that detail.

BAKER FURNITURE
I like discovering new furniture brands of which you have never heard before. In the end we always hear about the big names, but then there are those niche companies, that frankly sometimes are even more innovative than the big names, and you can find some really nice pieces. By chance I found the BAKER Thomas Peasent collection's catalogue on my desk the other day and there were a few pieces I really enjoyed. I have picked them out here to show you. And even tho the style is quite classical, in a mix and match interior with these pieces you can really create some final touches. To remember for future projects.

GUCCI MUSEUM FLORENCE
On my busy schedule visiting the beautiful Toscany, I repeatadly visited Florence and was happy to bump into Gucci Museum, as if into an old friend. Unfortunately being a tourist was my priority, so I did not visit the museum itself, but I had an espresso and I took a look at the souvenir shop. As usual in the luxury field, it all comes down to details. Not that the interior wowed me - quite simple, nearly scandinavian. But I did enjoy the small details, for example the leather newspaper holders with the Gucci print. Very neat presentation. I might use this idea for a project in the future. Also the sugar was shaped into little Gucci logos. I found them so adorable that I made everybody else drink their cappuccinos and other coffies without sugar and gathered all of them for my little sugar collection! ( I am not sure I will ever be able to actually use them! :)
Either way, I am planning to visit the museum one day. For more info take a look @

POUL HENNINGSEN
oH Denmark Denmark! Going back to Copenhagen for a weekend made me realise one more time how great those danes are at design and the knowing of making simple look cool. The Artichoke lamp is one of those Danish design pieces that is my fave. Designed by Poul Henningsen, but today distributed by Louis Poulsen. You can get it in different materials but my favourite is this bronze one. Any simple white interior with a couple of these (if you are ready to spend :) will give a truly great design look. Yup - this goes on my DESIGN PIECES I HAVE TO HAVE list.

JOHN PAWSON
The other day I stumbled across this bridge by John Pawson and I thought it was so simple yet beautiful. This would be one of those moments where I would say - " Less is more". Also the lighting design is just perfect - not too much light and not too little, to give just the right amount of atmosphere. Really nice.

A VIDA PORTUGUESA
Sometimes I find some projects that are really worth talking about, and I do not know in which part of my blog they would fit best. And so, A VIDA PORTUGUESA becomes part of the Interior Design section, as its concept for interior is also quite eye catching. So what is it all about? I feel like in the period of crisis countries are going back to basics and they start to search '' within their souls'' to find answers. A Vida Portuguesa was born from an investigation of the then journalist Catarina Portas into old Portuguese products: those that had been around for decades, that have kept their original packaging and that are still made involving an important dose of manufacture. So basically, in the shop you can find old traditional Portugese products, still in their vintage packaging. The shop above is in Porto. For sure a pit stop during my next visit to Portugal.

MADEGOODS
It is hard to find cool products in faux shagreen and as shagreen is one of my favourite finishings, I am going out of my mind for these products I have found on Madegoods. They have loads of other cool stuff, like these mirrors, so you should really check them out.
GENEVIEVE BENNETT
Genieve Bennett is a wizard. I find their things truly amazing. Its about turning craftsmanship into something modern, because everypattern is bespoke, addapted for clients needs. They use leather and emboss it, engrave it, inlay and sculp it to come up with these amazing patterns that can be used for walls, flooring, upholstery and furniture. I think with their products you can ad a truly unique touch to any interior. Great stuff

MATADERO THEATER
WOW, one of the most simple and inspirational projects I have seen in a long while. Why should it always be Blockbuster when you can have a film library?
Matadero is a massive film library, film sets, and two movie theater based in the art of Madrid. Designed by the Spanish architects Ch+Qs, the space looks like nothing else, with some vibrant lighting making the library looking like a futuristic spaceship.

RUNWAY DESIGN
I found very inspiring the idea of the main background of the Fendi autumn/winter 2012 show. The enlarged shagreen print in many shades of grey gave a simple yet super stylish and elegant final touch. I might as well use this idea in some interior project of mine. Without the FF in the middle ofcourse :)
I liked how during the Armani autumn/winter 2012 the illuminations of the runway became more intense in colour as the outfits changed their colour as well. Plus the colour so strong and juicy. Cool idea to steal :) for some event maybe!
THE SELBY is in your place
Todd Selby is a portrait, interiors, and fashion photographer and illustrator. His project The Selby offers an insider’s view of creative individuals in their personal spaces with an artist's eye for detail. The Selby began in June 2008 as a website, www.theselby.com, where Todd posted photo shoots he did of his friends in their homes. Requests quickly began coming in daily from viewers all over the world who wanted their homes to be featured on the site. The Selby’s website became so influencial —with up to 95,000 unique visitors daily—that within months, top companies from around the world began asking to collaborate.
For me as an interior designer this website is an amazing place for insparation and way to see how so many people all around the world organise their homes (most of the time maybe without any help of a professional interior designer) and how they find creative solutions for various details withing their natural living habitat. (this sounds like we are animals. Anyhuu :)
Here are some of my favourite pictures from the website, even tho there are sooooo many, really. I am sorry I will not quote from which person's home I have taken these pictures. Just check it out yourself on his website. Really neat.

AESOP
Aesop is one of those super researched beauty product companies that not only constantly improves their products but also expands around the world with very particular boutiques that really reflect the brand image and the complicity behind every product made. The shop above is in Paris in 64, rue vieille du Temple. But they have also just opened one in London. Their product design is also very neat. Check it out under GRAPHIC DESIGN.

IDEAS TO STEAL
With this post I am launching a new thing-if I will see some cool details in some projects, I will post them as IDEAS TO STEAL for my future use maybe in some projects of mine. Here what I am liking how in this shop they have given a frame to the shelves in order to create a more graphic feel to the room and give more focus to the product itself. I am always about black details in architecture and interiors so I am really liking this.

BOUTIQUE HOTEL _ Shanghai
By accident I ran across this Boutiqe Hotel in Shanghai delivered by Designrepublic. I will not go into detail too much about them, the designers, you can check out all the info you want on their site, I will just say, that my own house/appartment would have somewhat this type of atmosphere. I love it when old spaces are turned into new by maintaining their old skin. The contrast between rusty and clean, transparent and ruvid is what brings such a special aura to the project. And yet that pureness of the type of MUJI style still keeps a very asian feel. Really great.
MISSONI HOTELS
Edinburgh
Kuwait
Well well well, the Missoni family is taking more and more chances in the hotel market - new hotels popping up here and there. I must say that personally I like much more the one in Kuwait than the one in Edinburgh. Here you see also very few pictures, but there was not much to show. Obviously every hotel needs to fit somewhat to the city where its placed, but I think a Missoni hotel even in Edinburgh could have been lot more fun. The one in Kuwait is lot more alive with all its colours, patterns and 70's design.

IL RICCIO
I was just about looking for a place where I would like to get married! :D No, I saw this place and with the cold that I feel coming from the window, this would have been the perfect hide away for a lazy Sunday! Or a lazy year! :) All this, in Capri.

LA MAISON Champs E'lese'es by Maison Martin Margiela
Located between Avenue Montaigne and the Grand Palais, the Maison Champs Elysées opens the doors to a new world of luxury and poetry, a relaxed atmosphere in which minimalism is enhanced by an incredible attention to detail. It is a place that tells a story, the interiors of this remarkable hotel are carefully orchestrated like a playful, provocative theatrical production. Decorated by Martin Margiela, the Maison Champs Elysées successfully combines classical and avant-garde styles to create an elegant, relaxing environment. The playful decor, special atmosphere and exceptional service make this a magical place, to which you are sure to want to return.

PRADA - my all time favourite
This is a shop window of PRADA during Xmas time, and it is one of those displays that has stayed at the back of my mind ever since. I mean - if you think about it, there is nothing so special behind the idea - unregular cut tinted mirror installation. But it was so effective!! really! I do not think a picture gives credit to this window, but the result in real life was truly magical. I real Xmas dream cave! :) Only with Prada products.
WINDOW DISPLAY
Since I have started doing some shop window display myself, I have become much more attent to what is happening in the other shop windows. I must say that nearly always, the most creative and worth to look at of all the shop windows is the one of Louis Vuitton. There is always a little bit of everything - art, fashion, irony, history, brand value etc etc... Somebody to learn from I think.
The Love of Vladimir Kagan
As I had the honour to meet this wonderful man with his lovely wife Erica and as I am one of those that still believes in eternal love, this story touched my heart and I felt that it was the right thing to do, to place this grieving message for the loss of Mr. Kagan. May the angels be with you...
STEFANO SACCANI - 8 beauty room / SPA
Basically 300 square metres dedicated to beauty. A modern temple of beauty - but in few words in modern language we could call it a beauty concept store. Here - apart from coming to value the interior, you can do millions of types of beauty treatments, hairdresser, massage, SPA,manicure, shop all sorts of more researched beauty products, visit a professional who will give you beauty advice etc, etc, etc....I want to be there NOW!

OZONE - Ritz Carlton hotel Hong Kong
Eh, those Asian people, whos creativity runs waaaaay sky high. Anyhuuu, I find the new OZONE night club pretty damn wicked, I mean, obviously it is a bit over the top, but that is how a night club should be. A good interior of a night club should take your breath away. And the attention to detail in this place is unbelievable. I am glad I was not the lighting designer for this project!

Would you like to hang your coat?
What about this innovative coat hanger from Opinion Ciatti? Wouldn't it be not only a functional piece in the entrance of your home, but also a pretty artistic one? Depressed people - do not purchase this object for your home!! I repeat - do not purchase this object for your home! ;)
THE waterbar by Tokujin Yoshioka
I find this project absolutely amazing. The artist Olafur Eliasson has given his genious touch to all this and it sure is valued. Great work, really!
Can YOU hide in an egg?
I know, i know...it is so seen and old and etc...but for me it is one of those design pieces that I just LOVE and there is nothing I can do. ''One way, or another, I am gona get ya, I am gona get ya, get ya, get ya....

Moodboards
Me, as working in the desing field, I know that sometimes creating moodboards can be a big ''pain''. So the other day I came across these moodboards, with Jo Malone products and Farrow and Ball paint, and I must say that each of them is delightful, enspiring and juicy. One can straight away imagine an atmosphere, and all the small details of fruits and perfume give you an idea also of the ambience perfume. Amazing! Will for sure use it for one of my projects.
